The 2015 South African Women’s Open Chess Championship promises fireworks

The South African Women’s Open Chess Championship will take place at South African Parliament, Roeland Street in Cape Town from Thursday 24 September – Sunday 27 September 2015. How about that? One of our premier tournaments at Parliament. This should augur for visibility and popularity of the game we love so much. This tournament will attract the cream of the SA’s female chess players.

There will be fascinating battles across the 64 checkered squares in a 7 Round Swiss tournament with time control of 60 min + 30 sec increment.  This is quite a fast time control but it should be help the players who will have to play two games on most of the days.

The Winner and Runner-Up of the 2015 SA Women’s Open will qualify for participation in the SA Ladies’ Closed to be held later in the year, together with the 2015 SA Closed, subject to the number of rated games played during the year.

The current SA Women’s Open Chess Champion is  Sune du Toit and hopefully she will be playing in the tournament to defend her title at the tournament.
