South African Chess Club Championship 2015 in Durban, 7 October

SA Club Championship 2015

The South African Club Championship 2015 will take place in Durban from the 7th to 11th October.  The SA Club Championship will be hosted by Glenwood Chess Club with KZN Chess Academy under the auspices of CHESSA & EThekwini Chess Association. The Club Championship will have a very healthy prize fund in excess of R12000.

 Basic Information and General Requirements:

The Tournament
This is a team event and will be held across two Swiss sections. The A section will be FIDE Rated and teams with an average rating of 1650 or more will be allowed to enter. In the case of a player having no FIDE rating, their CHESSA rating will be used.

The B section will be CHESSA Rated and is open to all teams. If there is a rating difference of 150 points or more between two players, the player with
the greater rating shall play on the higher board. This applies to both sections.

Each team must consist of four (4) players and may in addition field no more than one (1) reserve. The reserve will only play on board 4.

Qualifications
Proof of registration (payment) may be requested upon registration.

A Section:
1st place – R4000 + Trophies
2nd place – R2500 + Trophies
3rd place – R1500 + Trophies

B Section:
1st place – R2000 + Trophies
2nd place – R1000
3rd place – R750

Board Prizes (minimum 4 games played to be eligible)
A Section:
1st place – R300 + Trophy
2nd place – R150

B Section:
1st place – R200 + Trophy
2nd place – R100

Equipment
Teams must supply their own digital chess clocks. Players having the white pieces in any round must provide digital chess clocks for that round. The digital chess clocks must be in good working order. Additionally, digital chess clocks may be rented for the round from the organiser. A set fee of R20 for 4 clocks per round will be used. The organisers will supply the chess boards and chess sets needed.

Accommodation
There are various options that the LOC have provided for players’ convenience.
