Rodwell Makoto wins Cape Town Classic

Zimbabwe’s International Master (IM) “Kotov” Makoto Rodwell round 6 victory over Zambia’s IM Bwalya Gillan in the 2015 Cape Town Classic proved vital as he leapfrogged the later on head to head tie break. Both Makoto and Bwalya finished the tournament with 6pts apiece after beating Musatwe Simutowe and IM Kobese Watu in round 7 respectively.

Until his costly Round 6 loss, Gillian Bwalya led IM Norm Cape Town Classic 2015 Prestige Tournament that was held in South Africa. The Zambia and Zimbabwe Open reigning champion had a perfect score of 5/5 before going into the round 6 loss. Tournament’s top seed and favorite IM Kobese Watu of South Africa finished in 3rd position with 4.5pts.
