Second seed Johannes Mabusela won the recently held Piet Robbertse with 5 points out of a possible 6.  The International Master (IM) who was seeded second in the event was not alone on 5 points and won the event on Tie break. The tie break used was the average rating of their opponents.  Also on 5 points was fellow International Master Rodwell Makoto. The two drew in the individual game.

Tied in second place was Dmitar Ristovich  and  Craig Bornheim on 4.5 points, followed by Mthunzi Brighton Mthunzi, Benjamin Hercules and Roland Bezuidenhout on 4 points.

Judging from comments in the Facebook group SA Chess Players some seasoned players found the going very tough at the Piet Robbertse Tournament. The event was played over 6 rounds at Waterkloof High School.
